Hi everyone,

I am quite new to being a mum and I am having a few problems with my 7 week old baby boy, who I am convinced is suffering with tummy ache from time to time.

Unfortunately, he seems to start screaming after feeds, even if I have burped him.  He does suffer with reflux, which causes him to be sick quite often after feeds.  I have been recommended to try Infacol, but it doesn't seem to help his tummy ache.  I have also tried Gripe Water, which I found did very little to help him.  I have tried feeding him with the Dr. Brown's Natural Flow bottles and now I am trying the Avent bottles as he seems to take to them a bit better.

I hate to hear him cry and scream, but I am running out of ideas on how I can help his tummy ache.  He goes bright red in the face and draws his legs up to his tummy.  He does stop crying eventually, after about an hour, so it's not lasting all night, but I wish there was something I could do to ease his pain and stop him from crying, as I am sure you will all know, it's very distressing!

Can anyone help?

Thank you!

Hazel xx

Hi  there,

i have been in the same situation as you for the last 10 weeks.

My daughter has been colicky despite successful breast feeding.

With medicines i have tried infacol, baby gaviscon, gripe water and even calpol after 8  none stop hours, but i have gone back to gripe water and its been more successful but it takes some time to get into the system i think.

Have you tried snuggling your baby in a swaddle blanket?
Maybe you can try a dummy/pacifier and if baby allready has one try the nex size up as this as i have found has contributed to wind.

laying them on their tummy could help and if its bowel movements get some lactalose.

there are some massages you can do too, see you health visitor about it.

Also do not forget your self, this is so stresful for you to go though too,
