My 13 Month old has chicken pox, is there anything else I can give her apart from calamine lotion to relieve her itching, especially something for bathtime before bed as it's driving her mad!!

hi fran,
I have had a look round the shops for creams etc to help with chicken pox as I think my little lad may get it as his mates have it. I have found some products that look like they might help. they are E45 products. They consist of a body wash and lotion designed to help relieve itching. I have seen them in boots and tescos. They are about £3-£4. Also i recently heard of a friend of mine that doctors are recomending not to use calamine lotion as it can dry the skin out to much and cause further itching especially before bedtime.
hope this has been some use to me. It would be great to hear how you get on and if you find any other products.

thanks for the tips. Thankfully she is over the chicken pox now. I never did find anything for the bath! I used calamine lotion but it was an aqueuos cream so didn't seem to dry her skin too much! Wink

I'm glad she's had it now though, let us know how you get on if your son gets it

hi,
little lad finally got chicken pox. he isnt too bad with them (touch wood). i have been using johnsons bed time body wash as it contains calamine. at night time he has 2.5ml of piriton and E45 itch relief cream. he has woken once or twice at night but think he is just uncomfortable and soon drops off after a cuddle. just thought i would let you know.
